Swatch X Blancpain Scuba Fifty | New Release 2023
A Special Collaboration
To mark the 70th anniversary of Blancpain’s iconic Fifty Fathoms dive watch, a timepiece of immense significance, a special collaboration has been unveiled. This partnership of Swatch X Blancpain introduces the Scuba Fifty, a collection of five ocean-themed watches, each representing a different ocean with its unique color: Blue for the Atlantic Ocean, Yellow for the Pacific Ocean, Beige for the Arctic Ocean, Green for the Indian Ocean, and White for the Antarctic Ocean.
Bioceramic, a material previously introduced in the Swatch X Omega collaboration, makes an appearance here. Unlike the Moonswatch collaboration, which utilized quartz movement, these timepieces boast mechanical movement (SISTEM51), aligning with the enduring vision of the esteemed Jean Claude Biver. who has always maintained a commitment to mechanical watches for Blancpain since its inception, and continues to do so. Additionally, this collaboration features NATO straps crafted from recycled fishing nets.
The highlight of these timepieces is the open case-back design, paying homage to one of the Earth’s five oceans and the enchanting marine creatures known as nudibranchs that inhabit their deep waters.
The Blue(Atlantic), Green(Indian), and Yellow(Pacific) versions all sport an identical dial design, which showcases the modern Blancpain logo followed by the Swatch logo at the top of the dial. Towards the bottom, you’ll find the ‘Scuba’ text, the ‘Fifty Fathoms’ script, and the depth rating of 91m/300ft. Additionally, the dial boasts a triangular marker, along with Arabic numerals at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. These 3 version comes in a date function as well.
In contrast, the Beige (Arctic) and White (Antarctic) models exhibit distinct design elements. These models use circular indices and a classic Blancpain wordmark with flat lettering. Instead of the text found on the other three variants, the Beige (Arctic) model pays tribute to the ‘No Radiation’ (No Rad) Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, while the White (Antarctic) variant includes a moisture indicator. Both models do not include a date feature.
These will be available at selected Swatch Boutiques and are priced at S$565. For the fans in Singapore, these will be available in Swatch Ion Orchard and Swatch Marina Bay Sands. Do note that it is limited to one watch per person per store and day. As with the Moon Swatch, these are not limited editions, there is no need to rush for it on the day of launch (9th September).
