ROLEX SECONDARY MARKET: SUBMARINER NO-DATE (114060)
In the third part of this series, we will be covering the classic Submariner No-Date Ref.114060, little brother to the Submariner date. We here at the Singapore watch insider have stated the speculation on the discontinuation of this model and those that held on to this model will be making a big profit.
The classic Submariner No Date has long been a staple in the Rolex collection and is typically the first watch a person would get to signify their success or reaching a milestone in their life and is usually between the Submariner Date and Submariner No Date. The Submariner No Date has ever been popular with those that prefer a cleaner look on the dial without the cyclops. Now it has been discontinued in its 40mm size and upgraded to a 41mm size with a new movement, if the 41mm may seem too big for your wrist, the discontinued 114060 is just right for you.
Before the official discontinuation 1st September, the Rolex Submariner No Date like all the steel Submariners has been trading higher than usual due to the speculation and anticipation of the discontinuation announcement. Hence, the Rolex Submariner Date has been trading for about $15,500 SGD about one week before the announcement.
After the announcement, the prices skyrocketed. Rising to a price that it has never reached before. If you were to pick one up now. It would cost you $16,800 SGD, which is about 8.3% increase seemingly overnight. This increase in percentage-wise is about the same to its date counterpart 116610LN.
Note: The prices for this post are based on the list price of New/Unworn pieces with the new Rolex Warranty card in the Singapore Secondary Market.
The discontinuation has pushed the Submariner No Date that typically trades a few thousand below its Date counterpart 116610LN have seen them climb very close with each other, only having a difference of $2150 SGD. Just like its date counterpart, this is the highest the Submariner No Date has ever traded.
