Rolex has just released its new 2023 collection, key highlight includes an entirely new Daytona & Skydwller lineup, a new Two-tone yellow gold GMT and many more. In this post, we will be covering some of the key highlights to us.

DAYTONA

First off, we of course have to cover the new Daytona lineup. An upgrade from the Calibre 4130 to the Caliber 4131, slimmer subdials, and smaller hour markers. The new lineup composes a facelift to some of the classic dials we have grown so accustomed to. For example, a black lining to three of the subdials to the 126503 Champagne dial gives it a more refreshing look. The other highlight of the Daytona lineup is the new platinum Daytona 126506 with the first-ever Rolex sapphire case back, showcasing the upgraded movement of the Calibre 4131 and a golden rotor, this is definitely the key highlight. Let’s face it, Rolex has never been the best at decorating their movements, could this be a new step towards something?

SKY DWELLER

Next off we have an entirely new lineup to the Rolex Skydweller, an upgrade in movement from the caliber 9001 to the caliber 9002. The main highlight is definitely the Stainless Steel Skydweller now in a mint-green dial. Next off we have a full Rose gold Skydweller Bracelet with a stunning blue dial as well. We now have a Skydweller Oysterflex in white gold; with a black and white dial.

GMT MASTER II

In the GMT lineup, we have a two-tone yellow gold and full yellow gold now in the Jubilee bracelet, featuring the first colorway of the GMT bezel in Grey and black, with a black dial to match that bezel.

YACHT MASTER

With the sudden 2022 release of the Rolex Deepsea challenge last year, it being the first time Rolex used the material Titanium or what Rolex has dubbed RLX Titanium. Rolex has followed it up with a new Yacht-master 226627 in full titanium and a more wearable size of 42mm, housing the Calibre 3235 and featuring an intense black dial.

EXPLORER

Next, we have the Rolex Explorer 224270. The previous release of the 124270 Explorer 1 was that the case size of 36mm was too small, Rolex has heard the complaints and has now released one in 40mm. This gives the choice of buyers with a smaller wrist to pick up the 124270 or with a larger wrist to pick up the 224270. An increase in the size of 1mm to 40mm, and housing the Calibre 3230, an upgrade from the previous Calibre 3132.

OYSTER PERPETUAL

The 2022 discontinuation of the 124300 in turquoise/tiffany blue dial shocked many, with it being a one-year production run. Now it is back with a slight twist, featuring what Rolex has dubbed a celebration motif. The celebration motif is similar to the Yayoi Kusama design of colorful dots, which we saw famously showcased in a collaboration with Louis Vuitton. Interestingly the celebration motif is of the colorway that was discontinued. The celebration motif comes in 36 126000 and 31mm 277200 as well.

1908

Last but not least, we have an entirely new model released by Rolex, the Rolex 1908. Coming in only precious metal of yellow and white gold and in a 39mm case size. The Rolex 1908 has a new bezel as what Rolex has dubbed the divided bezel combines both the smooth/domed and fluted bezel. The new Rolex 1908 also features a see-through sapphire case back showcasing the Calibre 7140. The 1908 certainly is Rolex’s attempt to revive the Cellini lineup, will it hold up? Only time will tell.

Day Date

Off-Catalog Pieces

In the off-catalog, Rolex has released the Day Date 36 with a puzzle motif dial. It comes in 3 different variations 18 ct yellow, white or Everose gold. Rather than showing the day of the week, the “day display” shows an inspirational keyword in English – ‘Happy’, ‘Eternity’, ‘Gratitude’, ‘Peace’, ‘Faith’, ‘Love’ and ‘Hope’. The window at 3 o’clock in place of the date shows 31 exclusive emojis.

Of course, not to forget the off-catalog sports models. Here are some which we’ve uncover so far:
