Patek Philippe: New Release 2024 April
Patek Philippe has also blessed us with its lineup of new 2024 Watch & Wonders releases.
Nautilus
Undoubtedly, the biggest highlight is the new Patek Phillipe Nautilus 5980/60G with an opaline blue-grey dial. The opaline blue-grey dial made its debut in the Aquanaut 5261R and is now featured on the 5980/60G. The 5980 in rose gold was recently discontinued in February 2024. Now, it is being reintroduced in white gold, featuring the opaline blue dial. Everything about this watch marks a first: the first 5980 in white gold, the first 5980 with a calfskin leather strap, and lastly, the first 5980 with an opaline blue-grey dial. The 5980/60G retails for S$114,300.
Aquanaut
Next, we have a slew of Aquanauts. The 5164G, much like the 5980, has been reintroduced in white gold with the same opaline blue-grey dial and a matching rubber strap. The travel time Aquanaut 5164 will now only be available in precious metal rose gold 5164R and white gold in the newly released 5164G. The 5164G retails for S$91,300. Moving on, we have the new 5269R in the same opaline blue-grey dial. The 5269R in opaline blue-grey dial in a 38.8mm case size was probably introduced to counter the high demand from men for the 5269R, originally introduced for women. The new 5269R retails for S$51,200. Lastly, in the Aquanaut lineup, we have the 5268/461G, where Patek showcases its gem-setting skills. With a total of 72 baguette-cut sapphires and 38 baguette-cut diamonds, the ability to source such gems alone is a testament to Patek Philippe’s gem-setting skills.
The sports lineup releases mainly comprise new editions of the models that were discontinued earlier this year.
It is evident through this release that Patek Philippe continues the trend of replacing stainless steel models with white gold models in the sports lineup, first with the 5711/1A replaced by the 5811/1G, and now with the 5164A replaced by the 5164G.
Complications
In the Complication lineup, we see the Patek Philippe World Time 5330G-001, which was originally launched as a limited edition for the Tokyo Patek Philippe Grand Exhibition “Watch Art” in 2023. The 5330G-001 features the same patented world-first synchronized date display with local time. The main difference is that the limited edition 5330G-010 has a purple dial and comes with a black alligator strap, while the 5330G-001 has an opaline blue-grey dial and is paired with a calfskin strap. The 5330G-001 retails for S$110,900. Lastly, in the Grand Complication lineup, we see a reinterpretation of the classic annual calendar 5396G, now featuring a sunburst blue dial and a black gradient rim with baguette-cut diamond markers encased in a white gold case and paired with a shiny navy blue strap. The 5396G retails for S$92,000.
Grand Complications
In the Grand Complications lineup, we see the return of the Retrograde Perpetual Calendar complication in the 5160/500R, now encased in a stunning hand-engraved case inspired by a pocket watch from the Patek Philippe Museum. The 5160/500R retails for S$292,600. Next, we have the self-winding perpetual calendar 5236P in a salmon dial, featuring an ultra-thin self-winding calibre 31-260 PS QL, retailing at S$204,800. Lastly, we have a new grand complication pilot 5520RG watch, equipped with travel time and 24-hour alarm, retailing at S$375,400.
Twenty~4 and Golden Ellipse
Lastly, we have new additions to the ladies’ lineup in the Twenty-4 4910/1201R and Golden Ellipse 5738/1R. The 4910/1201R introduces the purple lacquered embossed dial, previously seen in the ladies’ Nautilus lineup, retailing for S$68,900. The 5738/1R features a beautiful bracelet composed of 373 parts, with 300 links hand-mounted. It retails for S$87,700.
The year 2024 seems to be the year of the opaline blue-grey dial, with a total of 4 out of 11 of the new releases featuring the opaline blue-grey dial.
