The 10th edition of the Only Watch auction is back in full swing after a brief delay caused by questions raised by prominent watch collector “Santa Laura” regarding the proceeds of the auctions. Since then, Only Watch has released its audited report and its relation to SQY Therapeutics. A total of 16 brands have pulled out since then and have not rejoined the 10th edition of the Only Watch auction, notable brands includes Audemars Piguet and Tudor.

Today, we will be covering the highlights of the 10th edition of the Only Watch auction.

Patek Philippe 6301A-010

The biggest highlight is, of course, the highest bid of the night by none other than Patek Philippe, with its piece-unique 6301A-010.

The 6301A-010 is a steel variant of the Grande and Petite Sonnerie, adorned with a “Rare Handcrafts” hand-guilloched swirling pattern. It hammered down for a shocking 15.7 million CHF, showing that Patek Philippe still remains the king of watch auctions and shattering estimates of its watches.

Richard Mille Tailisman Origine RM-S14

Next up is the piece-unique Richard Mille Talisman Origine RM-S14, designed to be worn as a necklace; the watch fetched 2.38 million CHF.

Rexhep Rexhepi Chronomètre Antimagnétique

A steel variant of the Rexhep Rexhepi Chronomètre Antimagnétique fetched 2.1 million CHF.

This is one of the few stainless steel Rexhep Rexhepi examples to be made other than his own prototype. The winner of the auction will also get a private lunch with Mr. Rexhepi himself and a private guided tour around Geneva’s old town.

F.P. Journe Chronomètre Furtif Bleu

F.P. Journe has been one of the biggest supporters of the Only Watch auction and King Albert. F.P Journe being extremely vocal and publishing a letter in support. It is of no surprise that the F.P. Journe Chronomètre Furtif Bleu fetched a staggering 2 million CHF, crushing estimates of the watch and further proving that F.P. Journe watches still remain highly sought after among collectors.

Louis Vuitton – Tambour Einstein Automata

Next up is Louis Vuitton with its Tambour Einstein Automata, which landed itself within the top 10 auction results with 700,000 CHF.

Renowned physicist Albert Einstein with the LV monogram in his right eye socket, and a fun quip on his famous equation on time is now “E=LV” are featured on the dial, Louis Vuitton watchmaking has evolved over the years, showing that it is not just a fashion brand since acquiring La Fabrique du Temps. In our opinion, Louis Vuitton watches are a space to watch in the coming years.

Hublot – MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon

The Hublot Murakami collaboration has been the brand’s most successful collaboration to date, with all of their watches fetching above retail prices. The MP-15 Takashi Murakami features an all-sapphire case with a gem-set rainbow flower pattern; this is also Hublot’s first flying tourbillon movement.

Konstantin Chaykin – Joker Sandmann

Konstantin Chaykin with its Joker Sandmann fetched 110,000 CHF beating estimates of 30,000 to 50,000 CHF, it features a retrograde day “smile” with hours and minutes display as its eyes.

Gerald Genta Only Watch 2023

Now to the shocking underwhelming results for us were the Gerald Genta Only Watch, with the iconic Mickey Mouse on its dial. The watch features a minute-repeater and a retrograde minute hand. It only fetched 170,000 CHF, less than half the lower threshold of the estimate of 350,000.

H. Moser & Cie Streamliner Pandamonium

The MB&F collaboration with H. Moser & Cie Streamliner Pandamonium features a mini Panda DJ on the iconic blue fume dial of H. Moser encased in a streamliner.

This fetched 380,000 CHF, which missed the higher end of estimates of 400,000 CHF by 20,000 CHF. Both of these watch results came as a shock to us, as both these brands are favorites among collectors.

Overall, the auction results were quite strong despite the soft market we are in for watches. Patek Philippe, F.P. Journe, and Rexhep Rexhepi still remain the top favorites at auctions, while Louis Vuitton continues to prove naysayers wrong.

What do you think of the auction results?
