ROLEX SECONDARY MARKET: PEPSI (126710BLRO)
Today we will be covering the most sought-after modern Rolex GMT, and the second most sought after Rolex Steel sports model after the Rolex Steel Daytona. You’ve guessed it, it’s the Rolex GMT Master II 126710BLRO Pepsi.
Note: The prices for this post are based on New/Unworn pieces in the SG secondary market.
The Rolex Pepsi was released in 2018 Baselworld, where it took the world by storm. One of the most highly anticipated watches that watch lovers all over the world were looking forward to, the iconic red and blue colors on a ceramic bezel, and oh boy did they not disappointed, surprising everyone and putting it on a Jubilee bracelet. The Jubilee matches very well with the colors of the bezel, giving it a more formal look while still being a sports watch, making it even more versatile.
Not many would know that there are three different type of bezels for the 126710BLRO, the MK1(or Mark 1/Version 1), MK2, and the MK3(Rumored) Bezels. The MK1, colors are less deep, the blue tends towards purple and the red towards pink giving it a pastel feel. The MK2 gives a more darker and intense color. As for the MK3, the blue tends more towards midnight and it has thicker fonts on the bezel compared to MK2.
Now let us talk about the price. Out of the gate, the Pepsi was trading as high as 30,000 SGD when it was just released, the price came down over time and was quite stable around the mid 23,000 SGD range. But experienced a dip in price and one could be picked up at around the mid 22,000 SGD in the first couple of months of 2020.
The COVID-19 price surge is the most prevalent in the Rolex Pepsi, surging past its pre-COVID pricing to close to the astronomical price of when it was first released. The unworn piece would cost you now an average price of 26,680 SGD and retails for 12,980 SGD. If you were lucky enough to pick one up at retail and immediately flip it, you will net a profit of 105.55% or 13,700 SGD. That’s slightly more than double your initial investment, second only to the Rolex Daytona in steel.
