Only Watch 2023 – Postponed to 2024
The Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies (AMM) has decided to postpone the 10th edition of the Only Watch (OW) auction, originally scheduled for November 5, 2023, in Geneva, to 2024.
Here’s what we know:
On the October 4, an esteemed Singapore based collector Santa Laura raised questions about the allocation of funds and the governance of the AMM, an association of patients’ families. You can read more here on why Santa Laura wants Only Watch to shows full transparency here.
On the October 8, Luc Pettavino, the founder of Only Watch and chairman of the AMM, addressed the online allegations in an open letter. He states that approximately half of the funds raised have been used, primarily for research aimed at discovering a drug to treat Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The remaining funds have been carefully managed and earmarked for various research stages, including the SQY51 clinical trial, the development of molecules for different exons of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, as well as research into other genetic diseases like spinal muscular atrophy and epidermolysis bullosa. These funds will also support the launch of new clinical trials to assess the safety and effectiveness of these molecules.
In the midst of these developments, on the October 18, Audemars Piguet quietly withdrew from the event last week. Additionally, F.P. Journe released a statement on Instagram in support of Luc Pettavino the following day.
